Abstract

This work presents first study results of spores and phytoplanklon remains of acritarch from Lower Palaeozoic marine sedimentary rocks near Zvonačka Banja, eastern Serbia. The analysed microfloral material was found in preflysch (Varniče) and flysch deposits (the Jerna valley). The analysis covered Devonian rocks which lie in the column between graptolitic schist of hercynicus zone (at base) and rocks ot the Lower Carboniferous (Visean). The age of the studied sequence is determined using the fossil fauna of graptolites, tentaculites, lamellibranchs, conodonts, and macroflora of Cyclostigma-Archaeopteris type. Palaeopalynological study provided for a more detailed biostratigraohic partition of Devonian rocks near Zvonačka Banja.
